A limited-edition release pointing to the vintage being assessed by the producer as of exceptional quality. Sourced from a block adjacent to the winery’s cellar door, whole bunch pressed for a focus on free-run juice. This has all the hallmarks of a finessed expression of Clare Valley’s (Watervale specifically) icon white variety, aromas of not only lime and orchard florals, but also minerally rock dust and chalk, which thread evenly through the palate. More lemon notes also appear once the palate engages. Tight, assured and precisely cut, if ever there was a Riesling you can call powerful, yet still elegant to sip on its own, here you have it. A wine that will age finely for a decade and more.  95/100

A finer and more delicate style to the Estate riesling. But wow, there’s plenty of power and sustain through the palate as it drives through to a long finish. There’s a real energy evident as the zingy acidity adds lift, while the distinct minerally slaty characters *bring that subtle degree of tension into play. Excellent wine. 96/100

The flagship Riesling from this Clare Valley team, just 175 dozen made, hailing from the Watervale sub-region. Made only in exceptional years – and 2024 is looking very much like just that – it is a near transparent straw in colour, with green flecks. Taut, tight, poised, refined and restrained, this is finely balanced with good concentration and a real chalky backing. Limes and lemons to the fore here, with hints of jasmine and wet stones. The wine has bright, juicy acidity, a laser-like focus and serious length. A fifteen year proposition, and likely to hang on for many more. Superb example of a cracking Clare Riesling. 95. 

Our winemaker Pete Burford, certainly stamped his touch of class right here. The RC is a wine that I like to describe as having powerful elegance, the nose is pristine with pithy lemon and dashes of fresh lime. The wine looks darn near clear! It's acid structure is amazing with a beautiful intensity of flavor that lingers.

"RC Riesling 2022 – This one is more than a bit thrilling. Sure, a stunning vintage for Clare Riesling and there are plenty of brilliant wines, but this surely sits among the very best. The RC is only released in great years and 2022 certainly qualifies as that. The fruit is sourced from the Cellar Block Vineyard and the wine is made from purely free run juice. There were only 210 dozen produced. Do not miss this, if you are a Riesling fan. Few wines can walk the tightrope between a gossamer-like delicacy and a steely power in the way this does.
 
Green/gold in colour, we have an entrancing and lifted nose of bath salts, talc, kaffir lime leaves, spices, steel and lemons. As fine as the perfumes are, when we hit the palate, just wow! It explodes with those flavors. There is fresh citrussy acidity, great length, impeccable balance and a clean, lingering, refreshing finish. This has fifteen years ahead of it without a problem. At the end of a long day tasting, one hopes that there will be a wine or two which has stood out, so that one can enjoy a glass in the evening. This was that wine." 97/100. $45.
